Shanghai OnStar and the Midea Group have announced a strategic partnership for the integration of onboard telematics and smart household technology.

It will broaden the reach of onboard telematics and smart household technology to enhance the consumer experience."

Thanks to the growing demand and use of onboard telematics services, the automobile has become a mobile Internet platform. Likewise, smart household technology is rapidly increasing in popularity. A platform that combines the two will enable consumers to easily and safely manipulate what goes on in both their vehicles and their homes.

Shanghai OnStar offers a comprehensive range of over 20 exclusive services that safeguard subscribers and their vehicles. Its 4G LTE technology, which was launched last year, is the first onboard wireless Internet service of its kind in China. Through its rapid transmission speed and secure network, it has laid the foundation for the next generation of telematics.

Midea, China's most popular home appliance brand according to the Hurun Report, is a pioneer in smart household technology. Its M-Smart strategy is based on the Internet of Things. The ultimate goal is to revolutionize smart household technology to allow for complete intelligent control of air, nutrition, water and energy systems.

Seamless integration between onboard telematics and smart home technology will support a people-vehicle-life ecosystem to enable consumers to be fully connected to every aspect of their lives.

Shanghai OnStar showed a new Buick LaCrosse equipped with OnStar 4G LTE. Its onboard 4G LTE technology houses a fast, stable, convenient and safe mobile Internet platform that will be able to smoothly integrate with smart household technology in the near future.

Cutting-edge apps built on Shanghai OnStar's cloud-based onboard Internet technology and Midea's smart household technology will not only expand the scope of vehicle connectivity services, but also make the daily lives of vehicle owners more convenient while enhancing their driving experience, for a modern mobile and interconnected lifestyle.
